We have a strong special education program at MW offering the continuum of special education services from classroom accommodations to specialized class settings.
Our 3 resource teachers and our speech pathologist work, along with our general education teachers, to ensure that students with special needs are learning successfully. They work in the classroom and also pull students out into small groups for short periods of intense instruction.
We have a Life Skills class and a Medically Fragile class. These two classes are specialized programs with teachers trained to work with particular needs. The children in these classes are also assigned a general ed homeroom class with which to participate as appropriate.
Our Medically Fragile class will be new for the 2009-2010 school year. Along with the development of this class we will be adding a state of the art Sensory Learning Lab.
Our diagnostician works collaboratively with general ed and special ed teachers as she completes consultations and evaluations.
