Lupita Miles, ESOL Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), is at Meadow Wood at least one day a week to work with children and maintain our ESOL records.  She is available to conference with teachers and parents and to support our students that are learning English as a Second Language.

 ESOL Program

Meadow Wood has a very diverse population.  At this time children from more than 20 countries attend MW.

Countries represented include Russia, Iran, The Netherlands, England, Scotland, Cyprus, Pakistan, Morocco, Canada, Lebanon, Korea, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

When new students come to MW that are learning English as a second language we assess them in both their native language and English to determine which language is stronger.  Some children may qualify to be included in our ESOL program.  This program is delivered to children in the regular classroom by the regular classroom teacher.

An ESOL classroom teacher is trained to work with children learning English as a second language.
