School Improvement Specialist for Literacy, Social Studies, and Technology

The role of the School Improvement Specialist for Literacy is to increase instructional effectiveness in the classroom. Our goal is to promote challenge and rigor for all in the Language Arts. This is accomplished in a variety of ways such as modeling, co-teaching and supporting teachers as they acquire new skills over time. Staff development and parent programs are presented as the need arises. I assist teachers in the use of on-going instructional assessment from which instructional plans are developed. I also coordinate and provide support for those students needing extra support in small groups, whole groups or with individuals. In addition, I also assist with the integration of technology into the curriculum and serve to promote dialogue between the language arts and social studies teachers and to promote content area literacy.
