For Rachel Odom, becoming principal of Meadow Wood Elementary (MWE) is more than a career milestone. It is a chance to return to the school that helped shape her.
As a former MWE student, teacher, parent and volunteer, Odom has experienced the campus from nearly every perspective. Over the past 20 years, she has also served as a classroom teacher, creative writing instructor and assistant principal, developing a leadership style rooted in relationships, collaboration and service.
Now, she is bringing that experience and deep connection to the school community as principal.
"I am excited to join theMeadow Wood's community in my new role because this school feels like home," Odom said. "It is where my own story began, and I am honored to return as principal to serve the students, staff and families who make it so special."
Odom believes the foundation of a great school is clarity and collaboration. This school year, her goal is to build a culture where every student, staff member and family feels connected, supported and inspired while creating engaging learning experiences that help Every Child succeed.
When she's not at school, Odom enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading children's literature, listening to music and relaxing by the water whenever she can. A longtime creative writing instructor, she believes every great story begins with strong relationships, and she is excited to help write the next chapter in her school's legacy.
